Intro Night

September 11, 2008

Tuesday night’s class was great! I was relaxed going into it and had the opportunity to meet and chat with the students as they trickled in. Right now there are 12…some are veteran class takers and some are newbies…some are old and some are young…some are female and some are male…we have good variety all around :)

So sad, but I don’t have any humorous story to relate about my first teaching experience. I’m sure they will come…

Prof’s Experiences

September 9, 2008

Tonight we kick off the night class that I am teaching!! I have no idea…who is enrolled…how many are enrolled…how interactive the peeps will be…basically all the things a perfectionist wants to know. BUT, God is merciful and I am energetic with anticipation, rather than anxiousness :)

I hope to relate some of my teaching haps here in an effort to process the experience…feel free to help me “reflect.”

Kickoff is in less than an hour…I’m bribing the class to engage by providing fresh coffee!

Joining the Unemployed

June 6, 2008

Today is the day…Friday…the last day Mere has a job!!! (Note: notice I did NOT say this is the last day she will work)  Yesterday was the last day the kids were at school, and we transported all of her teacher stuff from the classroom to the attic (it’s a good thing I ate that 2nd PB&J yesterday! [~50 trips into attic(30(50lb boxes) + 10(10lb boxes) + ...well, a lot of sweat and grunting]). Today she is at the school for a “teacher work day.” They really should just call it a day that teachers are paid to pack up their rooms. When she leaves today at 2:30, she joins the ranks of the unemployed. Wooohoooo!! She has done a GREAT job making it through the end of the school year!
