PAINFUL LABORS
The cloak is lifted,
I thought to find
a brotherly embrace;
Yet instead found disgrace
and shame and humiliation.

Another semester done, another bookcase added to our home. We ran out of wall space in the “office,” so we rearranged stuff to make room (don’t worry, there is still room for the foosball table!). I know there are many of you who will not understand this, but since a couple of pieces of furniture were being shifted around, the whole room had to be reorganized too. This means cleaning out the desk, the closet, school files, etc. I know, I know. It probably doesn’t make sense…but this is just how it is in my world
Some call it “type A,” others call it OCD, I call it normal. Hey, normal is in the eye of the beholder! (wait, I think that was “messy is in the eye of the beholder.” oh well, thanks for the quote, Garfield). While I was in the midst of all this mess, I decided to copy every disk I had to our backup external hard drive. While doing that, I came across all of my high school files…some interesting stuff! So below I leave you with 2 poems I wrote.
An Alert Prepared Squirrel
I saw it still as a rock observing,
Exploring the surroundings for danger.
It began to gather, gather, gather nuts for its supply,
Always working with quick speed, never tiring.
As for myself,
All around me life is happening while I watch,
Continually looking for the traps it brings.
Many times unprepared I find myself.
I must prepare for life on my own, using what I have observed.
This one is a little more fun!
Adios Animales
Adios mi perrito.
Me gusta mucho el tiempo tuvimos.
Tu siempre ladraste y lo encuentro horrible.
Tu eras extraordinario!
Adios mi papagay.
Este tipo de animal no me agrada.
Tu charlaste cada dia, pero no me dice nada.
Que horror! Tu eras detestable.
Adios mi ratonito.
Me diste mucho placer cada dia.
La odio su chirriando. Es monotono.
Tu eras sensacional.
