Pedi Checkup – 2 Months

August 16, 2008

It’s over…there were tears, there was fussing, there was wailing…and that was just momma and papa :)   Luke did well. We now know what the pain cry sounds like. A few minutes after his shots, he was asleep. Hopefully he stays this way for a bit as the pedi warns that today may be a fussy day. Here are his 2 month stats:

Weight – 13lbs 14oz
Height – 23.5 in

Luke is right on track for his birthweight!

2 Weeks…Pediatrician

July 2, 2008

O Sleeper2 weeks have already flown by and our little guy is changing so much every day! Kudos to our friends who shared that expert advice about the first pediatrician visit…”make sure you take the diaper bag!” Sounds simple enough, and yet so profound! Well, we did pack and take the diaper bag, and boy are we thankful!! We arrived a little early so we could stay close to his regular feeding schedule. As soon as we walked in the office, he had a diaper blowout. Mere is checking in with the receptionist, so I start trying to clean up. Oh yeah, it was a mess! Then the shower starts. I was prepared…well, at least to keep from being sprayed myself, but he wet himself and then it ran off onto the changing pad and soaked his clothes. By this time Mere is cracking up while handing me wipe after wipe as I tried to soak up the flow. What a memorable experience! All in all, we decided that there was not a single thing in the diaper bag that we did not use…well, except for Mere’s cell phone, but that was it!

The checkup report was good. Though he lost almost a full pound in the hospital after being born, he is back to his birthweight and has grown about 1/2 an inch. We are blessed to have a healthy boy!

This Just In…

May 30, 2008

We just got back from the first of our weekly checkups with the doc. This is the first “poking and prodding” for those who know the process. Annnddd….whoa! Mere is already almost 3 cm dilated and 90% effaced! Course the doc cautioned us that many people stay like this for the remainder of their term…but then he casually threw out the “I wouldn’t be surprised if you do not make it to your due date” comment. In our minds, this is part of the process of making everything a little bit more real, especiallly the part that even though we have a little over 3 weeks left, we really have NO IDEA when lil’ Luke might decide to make is grande entrance :)

We also visited a principal…uh, I mean pediatrician this week. Her office is only about 5 minutes from our house and she is connected with Baylor hospital, so we were hopeful for a good experience. It wasn’t a horrible experience, but let’s just leave it that her glance was enough to make us sit up straight and keep our mouths shut!
