A few weeks ago I philosophized (here) about ends and beginnings, depending on the hour and context. Well, I feel quite confident that this is a BEGINNING, regardless of what hour or context you catch me in

April 18, 2009The days are flying by, and so is Luke! He has become quite the speedster crawler, often chasing us as we move about the house, and sometimes we chase after him.

Luke’s Olympic Medley
August 19, 2008Luke decided to put together his own olympic medley. There is the eye focus followed shortly by the tongue routine. The high-speed cameras show the close finish by tongue. Then there’s the “agoo” special. Topping it off is the sneak peek at the winner’s post-games relaxation technique ![]()

Five weeks, fun times
July 21, 2008Ahhhh, the memories
Luke gave us a surprise last night. After putting him to sleep at midnight, we let him wake us up when he is hungry, usually a little after 3 a.m. Last night he slept 4 1/2 hours! We are trying not to get our hopes up too soon, but we wouldn’t mind if he did this again!
2 days ago he peed in the bathwater. Today Meredith got poopy water
What can I say? She has the touch that apparently moves him…

get yer guns up!

oh so fast…
July 16, 2008And so, allow us to join every parent in the world, “They just grow up sooo fast!” There, we said it
Today Luke is 1 month old…unbelievable. Mere says it feels like it has been one reeeeaaaaalllllyyyy long day. How can we express all that we have felt in this past month? Impossible. But, we can share some of the humorous/awwwwww events:
…a few days ago Luke found his thumb and sucked it for about 15 seconds.
“Where’s the camera?!?”
“No!! Shhhh, we just got him to sleep! The flash might wake him up!”
(There are days when the few moments of sleeping baby are more precious than gold)
…anytime Mere burps him while he is eating, he grunts, grunts again, then turns his head towards her and spits up on her, rather than the burp cloth. I don’t have this problem
…bathtime is a favorite. Luke is calm (+1 for the parents), sitting in the little sling, hanging his legs off on each side. Yesterday came the first bath time surprise…pee (we have been warned of the second danger)
…focusing his eyes. He has moved past just focusing on our faces. Now when we talk, he furrows his little brow as if he is actually considering what we are saying. This might be the only time in his life when he actually tries to listen to us…
…there is one dangling toy on his mat that he hits/grabs at with regularity. Sometimes he gets frustrated at it because he can’t quite get a hold of it.
…lemon juice. Our pediatrician recommended a drop of this to help stop hiccups because it makes a baby swallow. Just picture baby bitter beer face!
