Photo Update – Luke
November 19, 2008I finally got a minute to update Luke’s photos. I’m trying a new way of posting, using Google’s Picasa Web, so let me know if you cannot access them. Click the links below to access each album.
Luke hit the 5 month mark on Sunday. It is so fun to watch him grow and change. He has started recognizing things other than mom and papa’s faces, such as his bottle. I must say that sometimes I might take a few extra seconds getting the bottle to him because he shoots his arms straight out, mouth opens, tounge works in and out, and he says “oooooo…..oooooo…oooooo!” It is fun to see (does this count as fathers exasperating their children??)!
We often find him scooted into the corner of his crib, face planted in the bumper, but when he is awake he hasn’t made any real move to crawling. I guess he can turn himself around, but anytime he works his arms and feet, he arches his back…looks funny cause he is high-centered on his belly.
What a blessing and joy Luke is!!
Rolling Right Along
September 27, 2008And we’re into the rolling baby stage! It seemed sudden…one day Luke had his head thrown back and one leg cocked over his hips, but with no real effort to try to roll…and then we found him waking up from a nap because he had rolled over!
Rolling Over
Two days later, after many, many rolls, he finally figured out how to untuck his shoulder after he rolled, making it complete. Now it seems like we lay him down, he rolls over, he gets tired of being on his tummy, we roll him onto his back, he rolls over, he gets tired of being on his tummy, we roll him onto his back…repeat. Perhaps we will soon have some video!
Luke is changing so fast! He has become increasingly verbal with us and is working on his motor skills. For more pictures, click here.
Aunt Jenn

This past weekend Luke got to meet aunt jenn from North Carolina! Woohoo! They had lots of fun doing dances and “walking” and even a little crying 
her roommate keli was along as well.
Mallory even got in on the fun as aunt jenn’s pooches dakota and kahlua made the trip. kahlua and mallory were amicable enough, though mallory is not used to sharing her toys.

happenings
August 4, 2008Took a trip to Houston this weekend so Luke could meet some of his extended family. We were actually tame with the camera, but here are some shots from the trip. It was a great time. ‘Course there are stories to tell.
On the drive home, Luke was hungry and we were hungry, so we pulled off and stopped at a Subway. Mom was…uhhh…creating a new bottle, while I fed Luke an existing bottle. He had been fussy all day long, but hey, he’s a baby and they just do that sometimes. Well, we soon found out why. In the middle of a gulp he pooped with such pressure that it felt like someone put an open-ended water hose against my leg and turned it on full blast! Oh was it a mess!!! It shot out the top of his diaper and was dripping through his clothes. I knew we were on the last burp cloth, so I didn’t dare use that to help with the mess, but within reach was a heavy duty paper towel. So, I have dirty baby on the right, left hand holding the paper towel trying to contain the mess, poop in my lap (all of this in the front seat of the car), and Mere tied up with her own business. What a trip!! We managed to get it all cleaned up and he was nothin but smiles after that
As Luke meets people, they drop many a nickname phrase…some of which we are not sure are compliments. Here are a few:
“quite the little bruiser”
“chunk of lead”
“stout little sucker”
“oooo, he’s biiiiig”
By our measurements, he is 23 inches long and 13 pounds…all at just shy of 7 weeks. We don’t go back to the pedi for another couple weeks.
