coffee??

May 2, 2008

I love coffee…it definitely serves functional purposes in my life, but more than this, I love the flavors…the aromas…the deliciousness…okay, I’ll move on! I always like new ways of making it at home (I am not a frequenter of the coffee shop simply because of lack of mulah for this lifestyle) and I was introduced to the simplest iced coffee recipe:

step 1: brew fresh coffee
setp 2: mix 1 can sweetened condensed milk with coffee
step 3: chill slightly. pour over the rocks and serve, drink, be satisfied!

use 1 regular can of sweetened condensed milk to 10 cups of brewed coffee…note, this really does make a lot of iced coffee, so you may want to make only half, depending on how many people you are serving.

Simple…Tasty…Coffee

  1. Sounds heavenly! Do you have a French press? Makes regular coffee taste that much better, and even more so if you grind your own beans and then use it.

  2. oh yes…the French press is good! the only downer is that mine does not stay hot very long, and i like my coffee hot. i also enjoy an espresso machine, but i haven’t used that in quite a while…takes a bit of time for the small use during school.

and then the grinder…it is the best thing. keeps the beans fresh until just before you make the brew!

  3. that’s how they made it in vietnam. of course that coffee was so ridiculously strong, you couldn’t drink any after 8pm, of you’d never go to sleep. when i came back home, starbucks tasted like muddy water for months :-)

Let me know when the next — uh, manly — iced coffee soiree is.

  4. Hey, I’m enjoying the insulated mugs you passed along after the death of your older coffee maker! I’ve used the mugs almost every morning. Thanks!

  5. Thanks for the recipe. It sounds rich tasting. Maybe I would like it iced :)

  6. it is rich tasting…but yummy!! glad the mugs are working for you dad…hopefully the liner hasn’t popped out :)

  7. Back to the French press for just a moment- our pastor has one that actually has a dock that plugs in, so it stays warm as a coffee pot would. I don’t know where he got it, but you might keep your eyes open for one if you’re interested!
